Holiday decorations

Hello everyone!

During this season I visited some friends and family and I loved these decorations, they look very nice and are easy to make.

If you still want to complete your christmas tree, these both are very good options. The pine cone ornaments are made in only three minutes each.

tmp01Just buy some jute. Cut a piece long enough to attach to the pine cone, yet still fit around a tree branch.

tmp02Then glue the two ends to the top of the pine cone. Just be sure that it hangs nicely once it’s attached.

tmp03Then tie a bow out of some ribbon (mine is beige satin ribbon, 1.5 inches wide). I found that attaching the bow to the jute actually allows the bow to hang a little nicer.

Cut the ends of the ribbon at a diagonal, whatever length you like.

Finally heat seal the ends of your ribbon with a lighter. You are done!tmp08

Another option is Glitter Twine Ball Ornaments. Although this is very easily done, it takes a little more time to get it done. You just need some balloons, a glue gun, jute twine, mod podge and clinging wrap.

Just blow up a balloon. Make sure it’s circular. Wrap balloon in cling wrap. This is a necessary step; I tried it without the cling wrap, and while the balloon detached from the twine eventually, the dried excess Mod Podge detached from the balloon, as well, leaving an ugly webbing in the nooks and crannies. Don’t skip this step!

Wrap jute twine around the balloon. Douse your twine-wrapped balloon in Glitter Mod Podge. Let it dry.

Once it’s dried, pop the balloon. This is the funnier part. ;O) Attach a wire ornament hanger or tie on some gold thread. You’re done!

Hope you enjoy this.

Have a wonderful holiday all of you! Merry Christmas!

Avocado Cream Cheese

This is a very easy to prepare dip:

  • 2 avocados, peeled and chopped pretty small
  • 1 package of softened cream cheese
  • the juice of half a lemon
  • a nice pinch of salt

Put all ingredients in the bowl and mix on low until combined. It makes a great spread for sandwiches, crudites, anything really. Bright and salty, but mild and creamy.  Just delicious.

Let me know how did you like it.

Until the next time.

Avocado face mask.

Miss Mevi's Avocado & Lemon maskHello everyone!

Did you know that #avocado are so good that you don’t even have to eat it to get it’s benefits? This time I want to share this avocado & lemon mask recipe with you.

If you have an oily skin this will help. Smash a half of an avocado and add the juice of two lemons. Once is mixed well and they have formed a cream paste, apply it on your clean skin. Be warned, it does sting a bit since it has lemon juice.

Wash off the mask after 15 to 20 minutes with cool or warm water. Share with all of us if you know any other avocado mask.

Until the next time!

Stuffed avocados with crab salad.

tmpHello everyone!

It’s Monday again and 2014 is almost over already. Today I’d like to share with you this delightful recipe which will make you look great if you bring this to any New Year’s party. I was looking for something cool and easy to prepare, something I would be willing to prepare after work and after I picked up my baby. ;O)

Enough said, this is the recipe:

For the crab salad:

  • 1 pound of cooked crab meat
  • ½ red onion, finely chopped
  • ½ red bell pepper, finely diced
  • ½ green bell pepper, finely diced
  • ½ cucumber, finely diced
  • 4 radishes, finely diced
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the stuffed avocados:

  • 4-5 ripe but firm avocados
  • ½ lime

To garnish:

  • Lettuce or salad greens, cilantro leaves, chopped green onions or chives, radishes

To prepare the crab salad:

  • Mix the cooked crab meat with diced onions, diced bell peppers, diced cucumbers, diced radish, lime juice, olive oil, chopped cilantro, and salt/pepper.
  • The salad can be prepared in advance and kept refrigerated until just ready to assemble the avocados.

To prepare the crab stuffed avocados:

  • Cut the avocados in half, remove the seeds and peel the avocados.
  • Sprinkle each avocado half with a little lime (or lemon) juice to prevent the avocados from browning too quickly.
  • Fill the center of the avocados halves with the crab salad.
  • Serve the crab stuffed avocados over lettuce leaves and garnished with chopped chives (or green onions) and radishes.

Yield: For 8-10 people as an appetizer or 4-5 people as an entree salad.

I hope you enjoy this salad, it’s one of my favorites. If you can’t find crab you can replace it with surimi. Please share your pictures on my fan page of this salda once you serve it. ;O)

Until the next time!
